Today, my wife, Kelly, and I celebrate twenty-four years of marriage. I write this devotion in dedication to my lovely bride.
In Ephesians 5, Paul writes about the relationship between husbands and wives, using the metaphor of Christ's relationship with the Church. He exhorts husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her, and he encourages wives to submit to their husbands as to the Lord.
Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, and it reflects Christ's love for His Church. When husbands and wives love and serve one another with sacrificial love, they demonstrate the beauty and power of Christ's love to the world.
As we reflect on Ephesians 5, let us pray for our marriages. Let us ask God to help us love our spouses with the same selfless love Christ has shown us. Let us pray for our husbands, asking God to give them the wisdom and strength to lead our families with love and compassion. And let us pray for our wives, asking God to help them honor and respect their husbands as spiritual leaders.
May our marriages be a source of joy and blessing, and may they reflect the love of Christ to a world in need.
