Mistake & Failures!

In the Bible, we read in I Kings chapters 17 through 19 some valuable information about mistakes and failures in the life of Elijah. We can apply these principles to our own individual lives. We read, "Elijah prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it rained not three years and six months." We see here that Elijah responded to the call of God. We must realize that when we respond to God's call by praying, God answers our prayers. Next, we see that Elijah prayed for rain after three and half years, and then it rained.

Elijah responded to God's word; he prayed a persistent prayer, spoke God's word, confronted King Ahab, defeated Baal, prayed fire out of heaven, and had the prophets of Baal slain. These are all things that Elijah did that were right. Then later, we see that Elijah was challenged and made some mistakes and failures. In I Kings 19:2 where Elijah caused the prophets to die. He then ran across two nations and thought no one could find him (V.3). He wept under a weeping willow and then gave up.

We learn that we can always fail after a great victory. One success does not guarantee another success. Also, friend, we must understand that one failure usually breeds another. God had a chariot and whirlwind in Elijah's future. We often make mistakes and fail to listen to God in our circumstances. Let's listen to God and realize He may have something better when God doesn't answer. Amen!
