Have you been placed in a position where you live, work, or play where favoritism and partiality occur? The Bible is crystal clear that bias is not God’s will for our lives, and favoritism is right in line with discrimination. I am thankful that we serve an equal God and does not show favoritism.
In Romans 2:11, we read: “For God does not show favoritism.” Favoritism is partiality or bias and always gives preference to one person over others.
Anyone who claims to be a believer should never show favoritism toward others. This treatment is wrong in the eyes of God, and as a matter of fact, it is a sin. Showing partiality is severe wrongdoing against God’s command to love your neighbor as you love yourself.
As a Pastor and church leader, I take what Paul commanded Timothy in 1 Timothy 5:21 seriously, where he said: “I solemnly command you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus and the highest angels to obey these instructions without taking sides or showing favoritism to anyone.”
Today, many people have been granted positions of power in their business or organization, and they tend to show partiality. We must be warned that partiality does not come from God, and Christians should practice a spirit of treating people equally. Amen!
