1 Chronicles 21:13 tells the story of David, who had sinned against God by taking a census of the Israelites. As a result of his disobedience, God sent a plague upon the people, causing many to die. David was filled with remorse and begged God for mercy, and God responded by sending an angel to stop the plague and spare the people.
This passage reminds us of the mercy of God, even in the face of our disobedience and sinfulness. David's sin was a serious offense, yet God was willing to forgive and spare the people because of his repentance.
The mercy of God is not something we can earn or deserve; it is a gift freely given by a loving and gracious God. It reminds us that no matter how far we may have strayed from God, we can always return to Him and receive His mercy and forgiveness.
Let us be encouraged by the story of David and remember that the mercy of God is available to us today. Let us turn to Him in repentance and faith, trusting in His loving kindness and grace to forgive and restore us to a right relationship with Him.
