Scripture:
“And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:”
— Hebrews 1:10 (KJV)
Devotion:
The symbol speaks of the event in the same way it mattered initially. It existed before time, man, sin, and so on. Hence, the emblem is pine on its stem, a reminder of God's being, our Savior and our Creator. He laid the foundation of the earth with His own hands, and God's fingers fashioned the heavens. Every peak of the mountains, every star in the sky, the roaring sea—all of these are His handiwork.
Hebrews 1 outlines the superiority of Christ. It lets it be known that Christ is greater than the angels, the prophets, and all created things. According to verse 10, Christ is eternal and immutable. Christ "remains forever" while creation grows old and wanes (Hebrews 13:8).
For every tranquilizer, every seer, or dowager queen is this clinical and challenging truth. We won't have much to stand on; even in a world where economies collapse, friendships change, and health fades, we will have something unshakable. And He that is that is Jesus, the Creator Lord.
If He had the wisdom to find the earth, it needs a lot of strength to put your life together. And greater still, if His hands laid the foundation of heaven, surely they can carry you through any challenge. It is the Universe-shaping One who rules the galaxy, who holds you in the safety of His hands, and thus stands."
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Thank You for being the eternal, unchanging Creator. You laid the foundations of the earth and formed the heavens with wisdom and power. Remind me today that You are greater than all things, and that my life is secure in Your hands. In the middle of life’s uncertainties, help me to rest in Your unshakable nature and trust in Your perfect will. In Your holy name I pray, Amen.
