A Transformed Mind!

Scripture Passage:

Romans 12:2

² And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Devotion:

Today's culture gives each person its unique impact, which comes with cultural fads, societal norms, or experiences that tend to shape our reflections, making us self-centered, materialistic, and contrary to the truth of God. There are quite a lot of possible trends and lifestyles that can easily distract a person from his or her true nature, resulting in transformation.

Each one of us should challenge the urging of Paul in Romans 12:2. Instead of conforming to the world when an individual invites transformation, this is the complete renewal of the mind. The experience is not a one-time offering but a continuous redesign by God of our thoughts, reasoning, and priorities.

The first thing to begin renewing the mind is to fill it with the Word of God. Life's viewpoint slowly changes in quiet time, meditation, prayer, and getting into the world, and one starts looking at life with God's eyes rather than with a worldly outlook. It's a time for transformation, a stirring within each person by which one is encouraged to know what the will of God is, that being what Paul terms as good, pleasing, and perfect.

To be transformed requires costs and an intention with no regret in saying no to what distances one from God but to all things bringing one close to Him. It causes a life resulting from His purpose life, getting His light into a dark world.

Application:

What forms your mind and its thoughts, and what are the things that cause you to make decisions? Has the world's mold influenced the things that I am doing in my life? Please take time today to focus on how you can build in yourselves through the Word and prayer now. Remember: Transformation begins with a series of daily small, single steps of surrender.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come to You to thank You for Your Word, which renews and changes us. There may be one more reason to help us resist some forms of this world and seek the truth from You daily. Our minds should be renewed to see life from the vantage point of our Lord so that our lives might be committed to Your will. Be strengthened and brought under such constraining service that the choices are to the praise of Your goodness. Thank You for the credit and guidance through the journey of transformation.
