Called Out of Darkness Into His Marvelous Light!

Scripture:

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”

Devotion:

Believing that we are not ordinary and believing that God has chosen us, we need to remember the scriptural texts in 1 Peter 2:9 about our position in Christ: that we are a spiritual and royal priesthood and that we are a sanctified nation, a host of excellence unto his praise. Defined in many different ways, scripture is clear in not factually specifying what 'are we' but clearly stating 'do we'.

This identity is that: 'that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.' He has brought us out of sin and into His light, urging us to show this love and transform into the world by setting an example. Our lives must testify to His grace, love, and deliverance.

God has called you His own-whatever you have done and wherever you have been. Stand firm in that confident place of who He says you are chosen, loved, and filled to disperse His light into the dark world. Today, let your words and actions bring glory to the One who has ushered you into glorious light.

Prayer:

My precious Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me out of darkness and making me Your own. Help me walk in my identity as a chosen child of the living King. May my life reflect Your love, grace, and truth. Let me bear witness to Your goodness and light-giving wherever You lead me. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
