We live in a world of hurt. Today there are hearts, homes, and hopes that are hurting. The Church's mission is to touch the world with the message of hope. In James 5:13, the Bible asks: "Is anyone among you suffering?" Today, many people inside and outside the Church go through hardships, afflictions, and troubles. Hard times are going to come and go through each of our lives. In this particular passage, James asks about the emotional impact of our lives.
Many people are even hurting from a spiritual standpoint, and many feel as though God has somehow abandoned them. The Church has been commissioned to carry out the ministry of compassion, restoration, and reconciliation. Our job is to work with others to build relationships and restore people who are hurting. Many burdens we have are too hard and heavy to carry alone. How often do you tell people you love them or are there for them, and then you brush them aside and go your own way?
We must learn in our life that reconciliation is only possible through King Jesus. Let us be reminded of 2 Corinthians 5:18-19: "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." Our mission is to be called to a ministry of compassion and reconciliation. Amen!
