Deuteronomy 6:7 reads: “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
This passage of Scripture should give us some practical lessons on making great memories for our family in this life God has blessed us with. We must learn from this truth that, as parents, we are responsible for loving God and teaching our children the things of God. In Deuteronomy chapter six, we find clear commands from God’s word that outline the responsibilities for those of us who are parents. As obedient believers, we should follow these commands.
In addition, we must give our children the godly instruction they need at home. If things are placed in the proper priority in children’s lives during their formative years, they can grow up to become the godly people needed so desperately in our sinful world today.
We must determine to capture every moment of the memories God gives us with our families. In this passage, God spells out His command and expects us to make the best of these memories in our homes for His glory. Amen!
