When we sin, we must understand that God will forgive us, which will remove the spiritual consequence. However, there are still physical and personal consequences to our sins. For example, God will forgive us when we sin, but we may still lose our marriage, job, or children. If you commit a sexual sin, you may still get a disease.
We must realize that sin has to be punished because we serve a holy God. If God did not punish sin, He would no longer be holy. It also has to be punished for bringing us back into a relationship with God.
King David committed adultery with Bathsheba, had a man murdered, and tried to cover it up. However, we read where David confessed his sin to the Lord but learned his lesson the hard way. The Bible tells us in 2 Samuel 12:13 about David's sin, "The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die."
Friend, God has done this for each of us with Jesus Christ. It doesn't matter what you have done; God has laid your sin on Jesus Christ. Instead of living as David did miserably for over a year, trying to cover up his sin, we should stop and go to the Lord, admit our sin, and ask for forgiveness and true repentance. God knows our hearts.
God will say the same thing to us that He did to David, I'll take your sin and forgive you. You will not die. Amen!
