We are preparing to celebrate Memorial Day this weekend, and our nation will soon be celebrating her birthday. I believe that America is the greatest nation on the face of this earth because of the grace of God.
In 1 Peter 1:11, we read these words: “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims.” Peter referred to these believers that were scattered throughout Rome as “strangers and pilgrims.” As believers, we may live in the same communities as those lost around us, but we are not supposed to love the same culture as those around us. The Christian Citizen is supposed to be different from the person who does not know Christ. We are strangers and pilgrims in this world.
Our only hope is in Jesus Christ. The only way Jesus can help America is through those citizens that know Him and live for Him. The question for you today is, how attractive is your Christian life? Do people want to know more about Christ when they are around you? Jesus said that His followers were to be the salt and light in this world. As Christians, we should be making an impact on the place where we live.
There is coming a day where we will transfer for all of eternity our American citizenship for a place in the kingdom of heaven. Until that day, friend, we must fulfill our roles as “strangers and pilgrims” and remain faithful Christian Citizens. Amen!
