We are celebrating Thanksgiving this coming Thursday. I preached this past Sunday that every day ought to be Thanksgiving in the life of a believer. To be thankful, Psalm 100 gives us five conditions:
1. Psalm 100:1 says: "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands." Friend, God has been so good to us that we should shout and praise HIM. In our hearts, we should, as Hillsong says in our hearts we should, be so filled that we "wanna shout Hallelujah, Thank You, JESUS, LORD, you are worthy of all of the glory, honor and the praise.
2. Psalm 100:2 says: "In whatever you do, serve the Lord with gladness." Our hearts should be cheerful, and we should be glad for what the LORD does daily. There ought to be gladness in our hearts as we serve HIM.
3. Psalm 100:2 goes on to say, "Come before his presence with singing." People often don't seem happy when we look around, and we ought to praise HIM with joyful songs.
4. Psalm 100:3 reads: "Know ye that the Lord he is God. It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." God is still molding and making us. Let the Lord lead us, His people, besides the still waters and green pastures.
5. Psalm 100:4-5 pretty much says everything about Thanksgiving: "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; And his truth endureth to all generations."
Prayer: Dear Lord, may we all be willing to make a joyful noise unto you with gladness in our hearts. Father, lead us through the still waters and green pastures. May we enter your courts with Thanksgiving and praise, be thankful, and bless your name. We thank you for your goodness and mercy. In Jesus' name. Amen!
