2 Corinthians 10:3-5 says: For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Many invisible barriers are more significant than us, which seem to stand between us and where God wants us to be. In the Old Testament, we read where God sent His people, Israel, to the Promised Land, a great place to live, but it was occupied with goliaths that they would have to face and defeat. There are many goliaths that we have to face in our own lives if we are where God wants us to be.
We must conclude that we will face spiritual warfare no matter where we go. The Bible said when Goliath challenged Israel, Saul went and hid in his tent. We aren’t called to hide. God has called us to pull down strongholds. As we live for Jesus, we will pull down the strongholds of this world.
We are called to cast down imagination. In other words, we must conquer the fantasies of this world. Many goliaths loom over us, but we can bring them down if we let God fight our battles for us just as Israel did. God has given us the weapons such as His Word, Prayer, and other Christian people. What goliaths do you face right now in your life? Do you find invisible barriers in your own heart that are coming between you and obeying God with your entire heart? Remember to “look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” Amen!
