After we become followers of Jesus Christ, we understand that this world is not our permanent home, that we are just passing through. Several dear church members have passed away this past year. Based on their profession of faith, they have gained a better home. I used to have a deacon friend who had already gone to be with the Lord that always said, “Be ye ready!” The question is: Are you ready? Are you heaven bound?
In 2 Corinthians 5:1, the Bible says: “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Friend, knowing that your eternity is secure should affect your present and future existence.
A heavenly home has to do with your salvation and eternal destiny. The beauty of any house we may possess is nothing compared to the mansion in the beautiful city of God. Salvation is imperative. Do you have the hope that comes from knowing Christ? Romans 10:13 declares: “For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Trust Jesus because the best is yet to be! Philippians 1:23 says that to depart and be with the Lord is far better. Are you heaven bound with the decision you have made in your life? Amen!
