Peace in the Midst of Trouble

Scripture:
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33 (KJV)

Devotion:

A hard-field trip: Grittier lives to struggle every second. The storms, uncertainty, and hardships are not always easy to process. For those who come to Him, the promise of peace stands in the middle. It's not a peace He poured into them from the circumstances, but a peace He gave to them from His own being.

Jesus never said that one day we shall have other possible tribulations. He said it. Issues certainly befall anyone, little or great, in today's world. But the following words He said are words of hope: 'Cheer up; I have conquered the world.'" Here lies the foundation for the story of overcoming. Jesus would, in all manners, ensure victory happens. He has indeed died and been resurrected, having defeated sin, taken away fear, and shattered death.

When corners are hit, one may bask in His peace's glory. Instead of perceiving annoyances in a trial phase by sinking in the pain of anxiety, one can choose to rely on the Lord who has come out victoriously. Things may still seem very dark, but the peace of Christ is like fuel, keeping one calm against any tempest.

Is there a challenge before you? Know Jesus has already done it all. Now, cheer up, cling to His promises, and walk in His peaceful ways, sure that He's always been in charge.

Prayer:

Thank you for making peace through Jesus for us. In the middle of challenges, teach me to live through Your victory instead of fear. Put Your hand around my chest and fill it with the peace and joy of spirit no matter what is thrown at it today. My Lord, in the name of Jesus! Amen.
