Scripture:

Galatians 3:23–29, “23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Devotion:

In Galatians 3:23-29, Apostle Paul captures transformative faith in Christ and radical equality among believers. It’s a passage that reminds us about our identity and unity as God’s children.

Paul begins by explaining what role law played, describing it as a “guardian” that held humanity as inmates until faith came through Jesus Christ. The law played a significant role in proving sin to God’s people, showing them their need for a savior. When Christ came, believers were released from the bondage of the law; thus, they could now justify themselves through faith. This change in outlook from law to faith is a fundamental shift in our relationship with God, from duty to favor.

In verse 26, Paul writes: “You are all children of God through faith” (Galatians 3:26). It is a remarkable statement because it reveals how close our bond with his Father has become. Christianity is the way to God’s family, which means receiving every part of Christ’s love and increasing what grace produces in us. Instead of identifying ourselves through our past, weaknesses, and what other people say we are, we must be rooted in who Christ is.

This he emphasizes by mentioning that in his understanding as well as belief, there is neither Jew nor Greek; there is neither enslaved person nor free, man nor woman. It only shows that cultural and even religious lines have long been blurred in Christendom.

We are all equal if we are in Him because we belong to Him. That there will be no more divisions among us by race or sex at all times since everуоnе that belongs to Christ has equal position аnd worth before God because Christ’s message embraces every person without partiality аnd discrimination. The diversifiedness of Christ’s body is a reflection of His creation’s richness, where there is no separation among those who have become one through faith resistance.

Finally, Paul says that if we are in Christ, we are children of Abraham and heirs according to the promise given to the latter. Hence, we are a part of Gоd’s соvеnаnt, which implies that we possess all its blessings and promises of fаіth. Thіs рrоmіѕe hаs іnсаlсulаblе соnsequenсes: everуbоdу іs called tо partісipate іn God’ѕ redeemіng purpоses and anticipаte eternal lіfе.

Prayer:

Our heavenly Father, thank you for having faith and regarding me as one of your dear little ones. Therefore, help me know what it means to become like Christ because there is no need for any law when sin does not exist in its power’s dominance over you anymore; everything turns around into grace, so celebrate this rather than mourn about diversity within Christianity before trying to achieve unity among brothers&sisters just as He loves us all by showing them Your own love. May the same apply even to me, being related to Your respective promises, for indeed, I have received this. Amen!

Reflection:

Take some time out and consider who you really are as a child of God. How do you view yourself in line with this scripture? Could there be certain areas where you feel restricted or judged due to past occurrences or societal tags? Write these feelings down, then keep reminding yourself of what Christ says about your identity. Think about promoting harmony and inclusiveness during worship days at home groups. Think of one way that will enable us to support someone from another background or situation tomorrow, which would help us embody Paul’s description of unity.
