It is mind-boggling how many people operate daily on their feelings and emotions. The Bible teaches that we should pray for wisdom.
As I pray daily, I ask God to give me the wisdom to make decisions that are pleasing to His will as I go throughout that day.
There is a massive difference between being smart and being wise. Although I am educated with a college degree, I have learned that you can have knowledge without wisdom, but anyone with wisdom will always obtain knowledge.
Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, had this to say about wisdom, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: And with all thy getting get understanding.”
What Solomon meant by this is that we must have a desire in our lives to want wisdom. We can go out and pray about any situation or decision we make, which is good, but the truth is known the best prayer to pray is asking the Lord for wisdom in making the decision or how to handle a situation.
Many often ask, “Pastor, how can I pray for you?” I typically respond by saying, pray that God gives me wisdom.” We need to learn what the difference is between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge is learned, and wisdom is given to us by God.
Let me encourage you today to pray daily to God for wisdom.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 3:17).
