Rest For Weary!
Devotion by Pastor Shane - February 28, 2025
Scripture:
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
Devotion:
Life can be overwhelming at times. Physical, emotional, spiritual, etc., burdens are easily laid upon us, poisoning our spirits and taking a toll until we feel bone tired. How blessed are these stammering verses where Jesus offers us a simple plea: Come unto Me. When He said this, He no longer commanded one alone to do everything; neither did He want His burden shared by anyone lower than Divinity—yet He took that burden away, Himself giving rest and peace to all men.
This is a brief respite from our distress and a deeply planted and immovable peace. Spiritual muscles are built when this grace enters our lives, which is how we identify Jesus. Offer your concerns to Him; when all else seems to have failed, He will be there to exchange your toils for strength, your fears for peace, your worries for happiness, and His joy for your sorrows. This word is by-still the word of consolation by Sarah Moore. No matter what is coming at you today, Jesus says, "Come."
Are you weary? Offering your burden before Jesus allows Him to reshape your soul. Believe in His love, and let Him breathe new life into your weary spirit. And His rest is not temporary; it is an eternal rest found in the presence of the One who loves us undeniably.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, Your rest through Jesus, thank You for offering us. When we are weak and burdened, Lord, let us come to You and rest in the awareness of Your presence. Let us place our trust in Your hands, and let us know this rest that You alone can provide in the name of Jesus, Amen.
