Proverbs 11:24–25: "There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat: And he that watereth shall be watered also himself."

These verses from Proverbs remind us of the timeless principle of generosity. The words paint a vivid picture of contrasting attitudes toward giving. The first verse speaks of one who gives freely, emphasizing that generosity is not merely an action but a heart posture. It's a mindset that looks beyond immediate gain and trusts in the principle of sowing and reaping.

The contrasting image is of someone who withholds unduly, perhaps out of fear or a scarcity mentality. The consequence of such withholding is stark – a pathway leading to poverty. This is a profound reminder that the more we grasp and hoard, the less we ultimately possess.

The second verse illuminates the beautiful promise that comes with a generous spirit. It declares that a generous person will prosper, not just materially but in the fullness of life. The act of refreshing others, whether through kindness, resources, or love, sets in motion a cycle of blessing. It's a divine principle that transcends logic – the more we give, the more we receive; the more we refresh others, the more we are refreshed.

As followers of God's wisdom, let us cultivate a heart of generosity. May our hands be open to give freely, our hearts filled with compassion, and our lives marked by a desire to refresh others. In doing so, we position ourselves to experience the abundant prosperity that flows from a life lived in harmony with the timeless principles of God's Word.
