We are living in a time when there are many people in fear of all that is happening around us. In our region, we have been dealing with fires that have been burning out of control over the past several weeks. The last time we had an inch of rain was back in March. People are dealing with all kinds of tension and anxiety and our Lord called it worry. The question remains, should we have a fear of the future?
The Lord Jesus said, "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof (Matthew 6:34). The Lord Jesus is telling us not to fear or worry. In this same chapter Jesus talks about how He takes care of the "fowls of the air." If God takes care of little birds, don't you think He will take care of you? If God can take care of us today, then He can take care of us tomorrow.
Anyone who claims to be a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ needs to come to this conclusion. Everything will always work out for our good. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose."
Let us not fear or worry about tomorrow. When tomorrow arrives, God will give us the grace and strength we need to get through it. As God's people we need to live day-by-day. If you know Jesus, there is no reason fear or worry anything because this life is temporary. This is not the final destination. If you don't know Jesus, you had better be worried about your death and judgment and future without God.
I am not sure what the future holds, but I know who holds the future. I have placed my faith and trust in the Lord Jesus. When you trust Jesus with everything, you never need to worry about the future anymore. Amen!
