Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus!
Daily Devotion by Pastor Shane - February 24, 2025
Scripture:
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
— Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)
Devotion:
In order to run as believers effectively, our eyes must be fixed on Jesus, the Leader and Completer of our Faith. So, He is the beginning and the end of the way. The faith that flows for us originates with Him and is brought to perfection through Him; He went through it all to endure the trials, facing the ignominy of the cross thanks to the Joy that lay ahead.
Jesus' endurance points towards the temporary nature of trials and the eternal weight of glory that follows them. He considered it zero, nothing but a sacrifice of shame and humiliation, simply a ticket to redemption, victory, and reunification with the fruits of the labor of His work of salvation. Equally, we must not think ill of adversity while standing as it does toward the center, comforted only by the perfect achievement of our King.
We must allow no outside dilemma to divert our attention from Christ. Our eyes must always be on Jesus, in whom we find hope, peace, and strength to prevail. Despite every obstacle, He is our support and our strength.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for providing us with Jesus, the author, and perfecter of faith. May our eyes remain fixed on Him, especially during difficult times. Only then will we be able to run the race set before us with endurance, accounts of which are kept imperishable and glorious in heaven according to Your perfect ordinance? Bless our hearts, dear God, to help us see each day as an extra opportunity to stay joyous, closer to the Lord, trusting, and persevering. In Jesus' name, amen.
