As a pastor, I spend a lot of time around people who have been hurt and are experiencing brokenness. I know exactly what it feels like to be hurt by the words and actions of others. To be transparent, I have experienced some hurt in my life in the past by the words and actions of others, and I have concluded that many times people don’t even realize it when they are hurting others.
One reason God gave us the Bible is because when life hurts and the lights of our life go out, He provides us with the life of His Word so that we can gain strength and comfort when we need it.
Psalm 119:50 says: “This is my comfort in my affliction for thy word hath quickened me.” Nothing gets me through the depth of my day other than going and reading and studying God’s word, searching Him, and letting Him speak through His Word.
I made this point in a sermon several years ago, and I will stand on it whenever I face life’s hurts. GOD CAN USE THE HURT IN YOUR LIFE TO EQUIP YOU TO HELP OTHERS WHO ARE ALSO HURTING! Amen!
