Overcoming Your Goliath!

Everyone has some Goliath in their life. What is it that you fear and why? In 1 Samuel chapter 17, we read about one of the best-known stories in the Bible, known as David and Goliath. Goliath was a giant that was well over nine ft. tall. In verse 24 of that passage, the Bible says, "And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man (meaning Goliath), fled from him and were so afraid." They were intimidated by this giant, and they ran in fear.

Most of us know the outcome of this story. We know that David picked up three smooth stones and used a slingshot to kill the giant, but there is more to the story than that. David went to fight that giant in the Name of the Lord. 1 Samuel 17:45 reads, "David replied to the Philistine, "You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Heaven's Armies - the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." We see here that David's focus was only on God.

We must learn from this story in the Bile that when we focus on our Goliath's, we will always stumble, but when we focus on God, our goliaths will always stumble. The first step we should take with any fear in our lives is faith. We may not know the next step, but always remember that it is always there! AMEN!
