What Does Christmas Mean?

Christmas is the busiest time of the year for many people. Each year during the Christmas season and months leading into December, stores stay open late and hire additional help to assist the customers. Many look for more profit and Christmas bonuses. Perhaps it is when many look forward to more fun and parties. It is a time that some get impatient as they await to open gifts on Christmas morning.

What does Christmas mean? Do we get so tied up in all the happenings around us that we forget Whose birthday we celebrate at Christmas? Christmas is the celebration of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior's birth, and it is time each year we should be focused on remembering His birth and what He means to each of us.

When Jesus came to make His announcement to the shepherds, He announced to each of us that "It is My FREE gift to you." Christmas was exciting to those in Bethlehem on that night over 2,000 years ago, and it ought to be exciting to us every day as we celebrate the real meaning of Christmas.

What will Christmas in 2022 mean to you? May we all praise God this Christmas, saying, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, Good will toward men" (Luke 2:14). Amen!
