Ready Set Go!

Jesus said in Matthew 10:24-26,

²⁴ The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? ²⁶ Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.”

Jesus realized that He would not be with His disciples or those He was teaching on this earth forever.   He gave a warning to His disciples that they would face potholes ahead and they would also face some false accusations just as He faced. As Christians, we should not be surprised in this day and age where we are accused, rejected, and persecuted. Jesus told His disciples to be ready. That leads the question, “Are you ready?”

People may be able to hurt the body, but they cannot touch the soul. We have a responsibility as well to teach what we have learned from Jesus. We will encounter opposition and evil doings in this world as we share what we have learned, but as we go through life and face potholes in the road along the way, let us find comfort in the truth that Christ said, “a day is coming when all truth will be revealed.”
