Scripture: Revelation 21:5

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Devotion: At the turn of a new year, when people across the world are looking forward to something better and more positive, there is always a sense that things will be different this time round-The revealing scripture gives believers an idea of how God would wrap up his redemption plan by remaking everything so that it is all brand new again; with no sin remaining anywhere nor pain nor death-It does not only project into tomorrow’s events but also addresses what God’s up-to right at the moment within our existence period on earth.

God does new things every day; thus, he can pick up all broken pieces and create something beautiful out of them; he reclaims what seems lost and fixes what got faulty. Every fresh sunrise, month-end, or year-beginning offers us the chance to see how his renewing strength works in our hearts, with people around us, and throughout this planet.

As we think about it, let’s bear in mind that God doesn’t just stop at today because His work towards making things new goes on into eternity. If today he’s transforming us into Christ’s likeness, it’s because he’s shaping us and making our way for a better day when everything will be restored.

May we enter the New Year looking forward to what God has promised about making all things new while remaining grateful? Despite any crises or uncertainties ahead of us, let us stay rooted in His words being true and cannot lie.

Prayer: Lord, I thank You for Your promise that You will make everything new. As we embark on yet another year ahead, let optimism and trust characterize our minds, too, since You can only renew whatever seems old again through Your divine power. Encourage us to believe in You since You never change. We will again need Your guidance lest we seem to have been abandoned by You in our own lives or in a world where You are invisible. Lead us to make every moment count as an expression of Your unfailing love and compassion for others as well as ourselves because eagerly expect the day when everything is finally completed by Whose name alone says: Amen
