Start A Fire!

About twenty years ago, a contemporary praise & worship song called "Start A Fire" was sung in some churches by a group called "Among Thorns." The lyrics of that song go like this:

"Start A fire in me, Let the flames run free, Burn away the dross, Holy fire of God. Let it begin, let it be new, Let me be used for Your sake, Bringing glory to Your Name. I can live knowing that You reside in my heart. Oh Lord, You are the fire, You're the fire of God."

In 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, Paul urged the Thessalonian Christians not to quench the Holy Spirit. There are so many invisible barriers and stuff in this old world that gets us sidetracked, which causes us to lose our heart for the things of God. When this happens, the flames of our faith become ashes.

Today, ask yourself this question, "In life right now, what are you hungering and thirsting after?" or another question, "Where is your heart?" Have you quenched the Spirit of God in your life? Are you hindering the Spirit of God from controlling your life? We need fo the power of God's Holy Spirit to rain down on us and start us on fire. Our desire should be more love, more power, and more about God!

1 Thessalonians 5:19 says, "Quench not the Spirit."
